The Nasdaq hit a record high on Monday ahead of a big week of technology earnings reports, while the S&P 500 and the Dow industrials lagged behind as losses in healthcare heavyweight Johnson & Johnson took a toll.

·         Most Asian indexes were higher in early Tuesday trade as markets kept an eye on the dollar, which firmed overnight after floundering for the past week amid greater uncertainty over the White House's ability to pass key policy proposals.

Japan's benchmark Nikkei 225 index edged up 0.14 percent while South Korea's Kospi was off by 0.07 percent in early trade.
